North Rim Campground Map at Grand Canyon

This guide explains how to read the North Rim Campground map in Grand Canyon National Park—how the main vehicle loop flows, where the tent-only areas, group sites, hiker-biker sites, dump station, restrooms, showers, laundry, store, and Transept Trail are, and how the campground connects to AZ 67 and Grand Canyon Lodge. It’s focused purely on map layout.

How the North Rim Campground Map is Oriented

The north arrow on the map points left, so the top of the page leads toward AZ 67 and the campground entrance, while the bottom edge slopes toward Grand Canyon Lodge. The Transept Trail runs along the western side of the map, skirting the campground’s edge.

Campsites are arranged primarily in one large, shaded vehicle loop on the right side, with sites numbered from 3 through the mid-70s. Separate boxes highlight tent-only sites T-1 through T-12 on the left, and a trio of group sites A–C above the main loop.

Main Vehicle Loop & Site Numbers

The main campground road forms a one-way loop, indicated by black arrows. Moving with the arrows:

  • You enter near sites 3–6 just below the dump station and host sites.
  • The loop curves clockwise past shaded rows of sites: 10–23 along the lower edge, then 24–32 and 33–38 on the east side.
  • Continuing, the upper legs of the loop hold sites 39–43/44 and 40–42, with restrooms and an accessible icon near the 43/44 pair.
  • On the return side of the loop, sites 45–52, 53–60, and 61–76 stack up in short terraces, each row with its own trash or restroom icons.

The shaded areas on the map highlight vehicle sites, while accessibility icons mark selected pads with accessible parking and route to restrooms (for example near sites 43/44, 57, 60, and 75).

Tent-Only Area & Hiker-Cycler Sites

To the left of the main loop is a dedicated Tent Only block labeled Tents Only Sites T-1 thru T-12. The map shows:

  • Two small parking areas—one for sites T-1 to T-3 and T-7 to T-9, and another for T-4 to T-6 plus T-10 to T-12.
  • A restroom and trash icon at the top of the tent-only area so most tent pads are a short walk away.
  • A special Hiker Cycler pad at the bottom of the tent-only cluster, meant for backpackers and bike tourists.

None of the T-sites are on the main vehicle loop; you park in the labeled lots and walk a short distance to the individual pads.

Group Sites & Tent-Only Group Area

Above the main loop you’ll find three group camping areas:

  • Group Site A and Group Site B: Each has its own labeled pad and nearby trash icon.
  • Group Site C: Sits closest to the camper registration area.
  • Tent Only Group Area: A labeled zone next to the group sites, reserved for tent-based group camping.

These group areas sit just uphill from the main loop so large parties can walk down to the dump station, store, and trail connections without driving through every campsite row.

Facilities & Icons on the North Rim Map

The legend uses simple icons but they cover most of what you’ll need during a stay:

  • Camper Registration: A building icon near the large Camper Parking area at the top of the map.
  • Showers & Laundry: Marked up the Transept Trail side road, just beyond camper parking.
  • Store: Small store icon between the dump station and tent-only area.
  • Dump Station: Pump icon at the top of the main loop, with arrows showing RV flow.
  • Campfire Program: Campfire symbol off to the right of the camper parking area.
  • Restrooms & trash: Toilet and trash-can icons sprinkled through the main loop, group sites, and tent-only area.
  • Host sites 1/2: Triangle symbol near the dump station where campground hosts are located.

Combining these icons with the site numbers makes it easy to choose a site close to restrooms, or slightly away from high-traffic services like the dump station and store.

Transept Trail & Lodge Connections

The dashed line labeled Transept Trail runs along the western edge of the map, just beyond the tent-only and hiker-cycler area. The bottom edge is marked “to Grand Canyon Lodge,” indicating that footpaths link the campground to the lodge complex.

At the top of the map, the road labeled “to AZ 67” leads back out toward the main park road and entrance station.
