Many Glacier Campground Map at Glacier
Many Glacier Campground Map Overview
The map shows a single large campground loop tucked between Many Glacier Road (along the top) and Swiftcurrent Creek (along the bottom). Campsites are numbered boxes (1–110 range) laid out on both sides of the loop road, with different colors indicating generator-free pads and RV-compatible sites.
Just north of the loop is the campstore / restaurant / motor inn area and a large parking lot. On the edges of the map, arrows point toward the RV dump station, ranger station, and trailheads for Swiftcurrent Pass and Iceberg Lake / Ptarmigan Tunnel.
Campsite Layout Around the Loop
Campsites are arranged in a rough rectangle with a few cross-aisles:
- East entrance side (sites 1–11): You enter from Many Glacier Road by site 1. Sites 1–11 line the east edge, with the fee/registration symbol near site 1 and a campground host icon at site 64.
- North edge (sites 12–35): Sites 12–35 run west along the top of the loop. Several blue water spigots sit between clusters (for example near sites 19, 21, and 29–31).
- West edge (sites 35–45): Around the far left curve, sites 35–41 are marked in green (possible RV up to 35’), with more standard sites 42–45 continuing south toward the creek and the amphitheater.
- South / creek side (sites 80s–100s): Along Swiftcurrent Creek, sites 80–88 (and the yellow generator-free pads 90–103) occupy the southern edge of the loop.
- Interior spurs: Inside the rectangle are gray-numbered sites 21, 24, 48–58, 70, 73–79, 85–88, 104–110 and others, reached by short cross-roads running north–south.
Two campground host symbols appear at sites 46 and 64, roughly mid-camp, which can help you orient yourself if you get turned around in the grid.
Generator-Free & RV-Friendly Zones
Many Glacier’s map color-codes two special areas:
- Generator Free Zone (yellow): A block of creekside sites 90–103 plus 94, 92, 96, 98, 99–101 on the south-west corner is shaded yellow and labeled Generator Free Zone. These pads are ideal if you’re tent camping or want quieter evenings.
- Possible RV sites (green): Green sites (for example 2, 4, 6, 21, 35, 39, 47, 69, 70, 73, 75, 77) are labeled “Possible RV (up to 35’)” in the legend. If you have a smaller RV, these are the pads that the map specifically calls out.
- Group Site: Site 74 is labeled “Group Site” and sits near the southeast corner of the loop.
Facilities & Icons on the Many Glacier Map
The legend uses a full icon set, all of which appear scattered through the loop:
- Water spigots: Blue “W” icons every few sites along both the outer and inner rows.
- Individual food storage: Small brown boxes showing where shared food-storage lockers sit.
- Bear-proof food lockers: Yellow locker icons indicating bear lockers; many sites share a locker between them.
- Restrooms: Black restroom icons at several intersections; one icon shows a restroom with utility sink.
- Parking area: A large “P” north of the loop by the campstore / restaurant / motor inn complex.
- Amphitheater: Labeled near sites 39–41 on the west side, for ranger talks and evening programs.
Combining site numbers with these icons lets you prioritize quick water access, proximity to bear lockers, or closeness to the amphitheater depending on your priorities.
Trailheads & Surroundings
Dotted lines above the campground lead to the Swiftcurrent Pass Trailhead and the junction for Iceberg Lake / Ptarmigan Tunnel—both reachable on foot from camp. Arrows at the map edges indicate:
- “To Swiftcurrent Pass” on the west side.
- “To Iceberg Lake / Ptarmigan Tunnel” along the northern trail corridor.
- “To RV Dump Station” and “To Ranger Station” on the east side along Many Glacier Road.
The bottom edge of the map traces Swiftcurrent Creek; the creekside sites sit just above this blue band.
